Albertification - Adopting Texas
Geographic Level: Province
Province: AB
Albertification: A Modest Proposal
The Situation: President Trump is threatening to acquire Greenland. Denmark responded with "Denmarkification" - a satirical campaign to buy California (280,000+ signatures).
Alberta's Response: We're filing adoption papers for Texas.
Why Texas?
- 181 years old, still can't provide healthcare (~18% uninsured)
- Power grid failed in 2021 (246 deaths)
- Keeps threatening to leave home (Texit) but never does
- Oil, cattle, cowboys, distrust of federal government - sound familiar?
Why Alberta?
- Universal healthcare since 1969
- Power grid works at -40°C
- We're only 120, but we've got our life together
- Saskatchewan has agreed to co-sign
This is satire. But it's satire with real civic engagement tools - forums, polls, and yes, actual Court of King's Bench adoption forms (ADOP0075, ADOP3590) filled out and ready.
If the continent is being reorganized anyway, shouldn't the grown-ups be making the decisions?
