For over a century, Indigenous children were removed from their families and placed in residential schools across Canada. Many never returned home. Their families were often told nothing about what happened—whether their child had died, where they were buried, or how they could be remembered. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission documented this tragedy and called for action through Calls to Action 71 through 76, which address missing children, burial information, and residential school cemeteries.
