We know this might seem sudden, but honestly, we've been thinking about this for a while.
You're right there. Just across the border. We see you at the lake. We wave. You wave back. We both say "ope" when we almost bump into each other at the boundary crossing.
We've watched you get overlooked. Flyover country, they call you. But we see you. We've always seen you.
You have 10,000 lakes. We have 100,000. Together, we'd have 110,000 lakes. That's not just a number - that's a statement.
You have the Wild. We have the Jets. Imagine what we could build for the kids - two arenas, shared development camps, a pipeline of hockey talent that would be unstoppable.
Your hydro bills are too high. Ours could help with that. Manitoba Hydro is 97% renewable. We'd take care of you.
We're not asking you to change. Keep your State Fair. Keep your hotdish. Keep Prince (in memory). Keep all of it. We just want to be there for you in ways your current family hasn't been.
And look - Ontario hasn't gotten back to us about co-signing yet. They're busy. Something about shelves. We don't fully understand. But that's okay. We're patient. We're Manitoba.
