Why AI Was Used to Help Launch the Conversation
In an effort to answer some early questions about purpose and design, we’d like to explain some deliberate choices made in creating the articles for Pond.
We won’t shy away from the fact that artificial intelligence was used extensively during the development and drafting process. This decision was intentional.
At CanuckDUCK, our goal is to shine a light on many of the taboo, complex, and controversial topics that persist within Canadian society. These discussions need to take place—openly, safely, and outside the grasp of censorship. That means creating a space where people can engage freely, anonymously, and without fear of bias or retribution.
As part of our civic duty in building this platform, we committed to framing discussions as objectively and accessibly as possible. The use of AI allowed us to generate clear, context-driven introductions to each topic—without the weight of personal or organizational bias.
This doesn’t mean AI shaped the opinions or outcomes. It simply ensured each discussion began on even ground.
Our promise is transparency. Our purpose is public discourse. And our responsibility is to ensure that Pond remains a space where difficult conversations can happen constructively—and where good ideas aren’t just heard, but acted on.
Let this be one of many steps toward the society we all deserve.
