Civic Integrity Manifesto

by CanuckDUCK Research Corp.

We believe that democracy demands memory. Not perfect memory, but principled memory—where our voices echo long enough to be heard, understood, and held accountable. CanuckDUCK exists to build trust through transparency, not to erase history or sanitize discourse. We stand by this principle, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Why We Don’t Delete Comments

On our platform, comments are permanently bound to your Wisdom ID—a cryptographically generated identity created from a SIN-derived hash. This identity is:

  • Non-reversible (we cannot know who you are),
  • Immutable (it cannot be deleted or changed),
  • Pseudonymous (you can control your display alias),
  • Accountable (your contributions shape your civic footprint).

Deleting content would be equivalent to erasing pieces of the civic conversation. Instead, we allow users to mask their own comments—visibly collapsed but preserved for audits or future reconsideration. Others may request masking if content is offensive, but the underlying record remains.

The Right to Disappear—Redefined

Governments and platforms often talk about the “right to be forgotten.” We talk about the right to change.

Rather than wiping your history, we allow:

  • Alias customization (e.g., duckingcrazy80)—your public-facing identity,
  • Full comment masking (by you or community flagging),
  • Transparency of moderation decisions (every action is logged, not hidden).

This ensures dignity without deception. You can reinvent how you’re seen, but you can’t rewrite your impact. That’s integrity.

Compliance, but Not Capitulation

We comply with Canadian privacy laws—but we do not contort our civic values to appease the status quo. Our platform does not store names, IP addresses, or traceable identities. Your Wisdom ID is not who you are—it’s what you’ve said, and how you’ve shown up in public life.

If someone behaves abusively, their words stay—with consequences. If someone grows and regrets, their alias and actions can evolve—but not vanish. This isn’t punitive. It’s principled.

Why It Matters

In an era of deepfakes, data deletion, and rewritten timelines, we are choosing memory over manipulation. Our civic ledger isn’t a social feed. It’s a historical record.

Because when future generations look back at the problems we debated—whether in anger, wisdom, or discovery—we want them to see the truth.

Unfiltered. Undeniable. Unforgotten.

This is not just a platform. It’s a promise. To protect your voice. To reflect your growth. And to remind the world that democracy is built not on perfection—but on permanence with purpose.

The Duck with Nothing to Hide
