SUMMARY - Youth, Elders & Non-Traditional Leaders
In a small community hall in rural Saskatchewan, a municipal council meeting is underway. The agenda includes a proposal to revitalize the town’s aging recreation center. Seated in the front row is Elena, a twenty-two-year-old social work student who has organized a peer-led youth mentorship program that has successfully reduced local truancy rates. She has no formal political title, yet her community influence is palpable. Sitting across from her is Arthur, a seventy-eight-year-old retired teacher and long-time council member.
