Project update – September/October 2025
- 2 Avenue/ 7 Avenue N. W. corridor improvements – Starting late September/early October, on Saturdays and Sundays, milling will take place along the 2 Avenue N.W. corridor between 10 Street and 5A Street N.W. Concrete for wheeling lanes will be installed in the weeks following the milling.

About this project
The Gladstone Connect design involved connecting the Kensington/Hillhurst community drainage improvements to the existing 7 Street Trunk in Sunnyside to help relieve the existing drainage systems.
The design included flow control points to manage and ensure that water being redirected from Hillhurst Kensington doesn’t inundate Sunnyside.

About the project
We’re investing in upgrades to water infrastructure in the inner-city northwest communities to enhance the safety of residents and protect vulnerable areas from the damages caused by stormwater flooding.
Much of the stormwater infrastructure in the area was built to the standard of the time but is now outdated and is being fixed to significantly increase the capacity in these neighbourhoods and reduce flooding caused by intense rainfall.
With support from the Government of Alberta, the construction of these upgrades started in 2021.
