Climate Change and Watershed Resilience: Are We Ready?
We tend to think of watersheds as fixed features of geography—rivers flowing as they always have, lakes refilling predictably, groundwater quietly supporting it all. But watersheds are dynamic ecosystems, and in a warming world, their stability is no longer guaranteed.
Watershed resilience—the ability of a watershed to absorb shocks, adapt to changes, and continue supporting life—is fast becoming one of the most critical (and under-discussed) climate conversations in Canada.
