SUMMARY - Mental Health Legislation
A man is brought to hospital against his will, police restraining him while his mother cries in the hallway. The psychiatrist completes the form that will hold him for assessment, citing danger to himself. He believes nothing is wrong, that the hospital is the prison, that his rights are being violated. His mother believes this intervention will save his life. A review board considers whether a woman should remain under community treatment order, required to take medication or face return to hospital.
