A global consortium proposes standardized consent protocols that would work identically across jurisdictions, enabling users to set privacy preferences once and have them respected everywhere. A design ethics movement embeds consent into product architecture so that privacy-protective choices are default and manipulation becomes structurally impossible. A new generation of privacy laws establishes consent as meaningful only when alternatives exist, comprehension is demonstrated, and power imbalances are addressed.
